Once Again ODB In Trouble - 8/3/99
Ol' Dirty Bastard was arrested again on Saturday, this time for alleged possession of crack cocaine and marijuana. According to the Queens District Attorney's office, ODB ran a red light at 228th Street and Linden Boulevard in Queens at 2:28 AM. He was pulled over and found to be in possession of 20 envelopes containing over 500 milligrams of crack cocaine and one envelope with marijuana.
Police arrested him for possession of a narcotic with intent to sell and also discovered that his license was suspended, a violation he's been charged with several times before.
All told, ODB was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, driving by unlicensed operator, and disobeying the red traffic signal light.
ODB made bail, set at $15,000 cash or $200,000 bond, and is due in Queens Criminal Court for a hearing on Friday to answer the charges. If convicted, he could be imprisoned for as many as 25 years. In the mean time, the release of his second solo album for Elektra Records, Nigga Please, has been pushed back to September 14.
